Frequently Asked Questions about our Camper

Q. How many miles per gallon does Bert do?
A. Ultimately it depends how heavy your right foot is but you should expect somewhere in the region of 30mpg on average.

Q. What fuel does Bert take?
A. Diesel.

Q. What documentation do I need to show?
A. To make a booking we need to see your driving licence, (if you have the new type of UK licence we need to see both paper and the photo card.) We also need 2 other forms of ID, one of these must show a photo e.g. passport. The other must show your current address e.g. a utility bill. Each driver must provide separate forms of identification.

Q. How do I make a booking?
A. The quickest way to make sure we have availability for your chosen dates is to call us on +44 (0)845 6122522 or email james@wehirecampers.co.uk. A booking form will then be provided and must be completed and posted/faxed/emailed back to us. On receipt of this we will contact you to advise how to pay the deposit.

Q. How much deposit must I pay?
A. To secure your booking we require £100 per week, this is non refundable. If your hire dates are within 4 weeks of your booking date the total hire amount will be due immediately.

Q. When is the balance to be paid?
A. The remaining balance must be paid at least 4 weeks before the start date of hire, we will send you a reminder by email.

Q. Are the campervans automatic or manual transmission?
A. Our Mazda Bongo is automatic. If you have never driven an automatic don't worry, after 10 mins driving you will wonder why you ever drove a manual!

Q. What size is a Mazda Bongo?
A. Bert is 4.75m long and 2.11m high (with the roof down). They are small enough to negotiate narrow country lanes and very easy to park.

Q. Does the campervans have electric hook-ups?
A. Yes. This means he can be plugged into a 240v mains supply at a UK campsite. All the campers have on board leisure batteries which run lights, fridges and low power electrical items.

Q. What cooking facilities are available?
A. Bert has a twin gas burning hobs for cooking. A full gas bottle is provided on commencement of hire. We'll also provide you with cooking utensils, pots, plates, crockery etc. and cleaning equipment, cloths, washing up liquid, dustpan and brush etc.

Q. Do the campervans have fridges?
A. Yes Bert is fitted with a 12v / 240v fridge which will run for 4 days without re-charging. Charging is automatic whilst driving or when you plug Bert into a 240v hook-up at a camp site.

Q. Are pets allowed?
A. Dogs are allowed although we ask that you advise us of this prior to booking.

Q. I want to hire a van for 2 or 3 days only, will this be allowed?
A. Our typical hire period is 4 days however we will try to accommodate most requests for shorter hire periods or different pickup and drop off days. Please contact us to check availability.

Q. What happens if I breakdown?
A. The van is fully covered under AA roadside, breakdown, recovery and relay.
